Cast Connection.
Today I visited my friends back where I first started working when I started working in the parks. I was met with the smiling faces and hugs from the friends that I made there. I was very lucky to begin there. My son calls me now the Benjamin Button of Disney. Because I started where quite a few cast members end their Disney careers. Its a great place, they are not open on sundays, they never work holidays, and the hours are always the same. There are not many jobs that allow you to have a semi normal life!
I realize that even though my hours are long, and the work is both exciting and stressful, I am where I love to be. Out there on the frontlines dealing with our guests on a day to day basis.
Today I went to a special meeting to show that I am interested in being a trainer at TSMM. And they asked us all if we remembered our first trainer, I could not, I have had so many that I just remember bits and pieces of them all. But it seems that fate continually gives me a tap on the shoulder. I was buying something at Cast Connection and the cast member that rang me up was a good friend of mine. And for some reason she just started talking how she remembered me being her trainer, and that she will never forget the first day that I had picked her up from her Traditions class. And I told her that I was so happy that it was me that got to not only welcome her, but be her trainer.
And another thing that happened at TSMM that also gave me that tap on my shoulder, was I was working with one of the girls that had been in my On With the Show class and it was a long tiring day, I asked her how she was doing and she said that she always used what I had taught her that first day, I had told her to remember her first and best Disney memory, and remember no matter how bad the day is, that she is a part of that magic.”
So, I really don’t know if I will be chosen to be a trainer or not. I can’t let it effect me either way. But I can’t begin to tell you how wonderful it makes me feel that in some way I have made a impact to other cast members. That I will be one of their Disney memories.
